Hi Jason. It depends on what your definition of healthy is. If it needs to be under 200 calories per serving then you will need to cut this dessert into smaller pieces. It is very rich and very filling so if you are serving it to kids, you could easily cut it into 24 pieces. My definition of “Healthy” is sugar-free and made from scratch with wholesome ingredients and little added chemicals. If your definition of healthy is low calorie and low fat, then this dessert is not for you. There are many recipes for Chocolate Lasagna or Chocolate Layered Dessert on-line which would meet your needs. You could make it very cheaply buy buying low fat cookies, cream cheese, low fat pudding and low fat coolwhip. As far as costing the dessert… I calculated the nutritional data in a recipe program but I did not cost it out. You will have to do that yourself depending on how you want to make the recipe. Christy, I love this dessert and am so happy you liked it, too. I have found that the xanthan gum stabilizes the whipped cream enough to be good for about 5 days. It does make it stiff and it’s a little tricky smoothing it over the pudding layer. I just go slowly and gently. Just so you know, my recipe card has a recipe scale function. The only adjustment I made to the recipe, was the addition of about a tablespoon of lemon juice to the cream cheese mixture; for just a little bit of tanginess to off-set all the sweetness. This is also how we make 4-Layer Delight back home, so I thought it would work here. I’ve tried it both ways, and the little hint of sourness from the lemon really seems to make it perfect; to me and the wife at least.
I was trying to figure out why mine came out goopy and grainy. It hasnt solidified yet so i will see soon if i messed it up too much. When i was pouring my vanilla extract in it i goofed and over poured so at first i thought that would cause trouble, but figured it would be fine since i planned to just use however many splenda packets seemed necessary by tasting as i go. Then i thought hmm let me add 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and i thought that was the culprit, so i added a little more fairlife milk to help make it more liquid again…. but nope… and the flavor and consistency still wasnt where i wanted it so i added even more vanilla and milk afterf the powdered splenda…. thats when i noticed a bit of bubbling on the edges of the bowl and thought oh crud turn the heat down! I wonder if i should have added more oil but i didnt want to add extra oil and make it so it would never have a chance of solidifying.
Hi Cyn, The numbers are general guidelines but will vary depending on many factors, such as activity level, insulin resistance, weight and more. There is no single magic number, just conventional recommendations that are a good starting point. I will have a macro calculator coming soon that will help determine what is best for each person, but even then it’s an approximation. The only way to know for sure is to test. If keto is your goal, it’s usually best to start lower and then see if you can stay in ketosis when increasing.

While the oven was on self-clean mode, I ran back to the store and exchanged my springform pan for a new one, bought some more unsweetened chocolate and eggs, and went home to try again. This time I cut the parchment large enough to run it up the sides about 1/2″. I buttered the underside of the parchment before buttering the rest of the pan, poured in the batter, and baked for 30 minutes as the center was too sift at 25 minutes. It only leaked about 1/2 tsp, which is likely the butter from the parchment. I know springform pans aren’t waterproof (or butter-proof in this case), but I’ve never had one leak before. I usually only use them for cheesecake and never line the bottom with parchment.

I don’t know if this is the best, but she has this alernating with fresh meat. Since she has changed to this formulation, she has had no gingivitis (inflammation of her gums).

I personally don’t count anymore as I want this to be as easy and sustainable as possible. I have had years of counting calories and points, and this is incredibly liberating. I just don’t eat any sugars, grains or high carb foods any more so I am incredibly low carb all the time. When I was starting out I counted, just to see where my carbs were coming from and it was an eye opener. And yes you are correct, to go into ketosis anywhere between 20-50g carbs/day. Find out what works for you.
If you’re not a fan of dark chocolate or need a dairy free option this candy bar is made with coconut butter, you can tell by the lighter color than the chocolate bars at the top of the post. This recipe is exactly the one I used for making my No Bake Chocolate Coconut Butter Bunnies last year for Easter! Just melt and pour into candy bar molds. I am confused. Vitafiber is an IMO. It gets broken down like sugar and therefore you don’t use it? Then why did you recommend it? This recipe is for a low carb chocolate bar. I am on a ketogenic diet. I ordered this stuff specifically because you recommended it. How am I supposed to calculate the carbs? Does it have an effect on blood sugar? If inulin is better, why not use that. Could you please clarify. Also, if Vitafiber is not good for people who are on a very low carb diet, you may want to include a note up in the text of the recipe so that people understand that it won’t work for a ketogenic diet. Please don’t interpret this as an angry comment. I am genuinely confused and would like to know how to proceed (i.e. should I return the Vitafiber and not eat the chocolate that I made with it). Hi. I made this recipe using a half cup cocoa powder, a quarter cup powdered icing Natvia (stevia erythritol) and cocoa butter I had in the fridge for over a year! :O. I also added a quarter cup chopped Brazil’s as they are so low carb. I wasn’t expecting much but it was absolutely fabulous!! My whole family scoffed the lot and they are not even Keto! Greetings i used ingredients exactly. My execution wss different on making the chocolate pudding, after seeing ingredients it looked like chocalte cutard so i made it li ke custard. Skipping on a few of the steps. Oh my goodness, it was absolutely delicious. Everyone wsnts the recipe. Definitely a keeper. Getting the ingredients was the hardest part of this recipe.
